Lance Grimstone

2009 LEICHHARDT AWARD WINNER

The Leichhardt Award was conferred on Lance Grimstone at a dinner at the Rockhampton Heritage Village, Queensland.  The award dinner followed the first day’s proceedings of the  joint ACARP-BBGG meeting held at Central Qld University on 1st-2ndJuly, 2009.  This award recognises Lance’s contribution as one of the pioneers of the BBGG, a lateral thinker who has continually challenged the interpretation of the Bowen Basin geology, and through plenty of ‘sweat’ has discovered numerous new coal resources – many of which are in operation or in pipeline.
